August 10, 2010

Today we had both a visiting nurse and a physical therapist visit our home. Cathy had a good day, for the most part. We are getting a handle on the delicate balance of pain and nausea. I certainly don’t know why, but I think Cathy is getting a bit suspicious of me. I brought her a few crackers with peanut on them and one cracker with Nutella on it. She frowned and asked, regarding the Nutella, “what is that? It isn’t prunes, is it!!?” Are you starting to get the idea of what kind of things I’m feeding her?

Actually, Lynn has been a great help and a great cook. I was able to get into work today for the first time in a long time. Tomorrow we will treat Lynn with a lobster dinner (yes, the sacrifices Cathy and I must make). Cathy and Lynn had a good day together. We look forward to tomorrow when we will be beyond the half way point in our radiation treatments.

Okay, if you fed me a cracker with Nutella and another with Peanut Butter, I'd look at you strangely too!!! Joe and I certainly wish we were closer to be of help, though I have to think hard what Joe would do, he drives fast, can't cook, but he is good at vacuuming and dusting!!! Praying for another good day. Kathy

Dan and Cathy,
We all know here in Wales how well Dan takes care of people, and so Cathy is certainly in very good hands.
On the cooking front I'm not so sure. You always spent time in different depts Dan but reading these comments, hopefully not in the canteen - or did you ? As an alternative to peanut butter, you need some tasty Welsh cakes. Do you have the recipe ? Let us know so that you can test your cooking skills even further !!
Be strong and positive and everyone here in Wales is thinking of you both at this time.
Take care,
Meirion

Now that I've read the blog, I'm not sure if finding out how to pray for the two of you or Dan's humor will keep me coming back so quickly! Thank you for sharing this with our church prayer chain Dan. I would be happy to make a meal for you guys and bring it to you too, when you need more cooking relief! :)

Dan and Cathy,
I am so sorry to hear about everything you all are going through. Tom Jordan sent me an e-mail to let me know about what was going on and this website to keep up with Cathy's progress. I'm glad to hear you are at home now. I know it helps to be in the comfort of your own home and loving people to help take care of you. Dan, I know you are doing a wonderful job, keep up the good work! This blog was a great idea and I will keep checking on you both.
Cathy, you are a strong and wonderful lady and God will give you both the strengh, comfort and love to see you through and to conquer this cancer. My thoughts and prayers are with you both and I hope you will let me know if there is anything I can do for you and your family. Take care and
God Bless! Gina Becks

Hi Dan and Cathy,

Dave sent you some things yesterday. I believe he sent our favorite sermon by EV Hill, a book and I'm sorry to say, a CD of my singing....sorry about that but he's a little proud and thought you might enjoy it.

You are certainly in our thoughts and prayers.

We still plan to come through in a little over two weeks so if there is anything at all we can do for you the week we are in Maine, like bring you some groceries or bring a meal or do a little housework or just pray with you, we would be happy to do what we can.

Beth
