August 15, 2010

Today was a mixed day and we appreciate blocks of time where Cathy feels ok. She was good for the time over lunch with David. We enjoyed catching up with him and things going on in his life. I know Cathy appreciated his visit.

I’m still trying to find the right combination of medications for Cathy. Medications have side effects that can make it a challenge. Somewhat to my pleasant surprise, it seems like Cathy’s weight has stabilized. Cathy can eat an amount of food equivalent to the amount that would be held in the palm of your hand. I need to get the appropriate health building food into this size. It helps to use a very small plate.

The good news is that I can still get Cathy to smile with my sick sense of humor in spite of everything. They say laughing is healthy. Cathy may only smile and may not laugh but it is really healthy for each of us.

Dan,
If it would help you please consider using our house as a home base/place to stay while in Boston. Although we are not in town we are 20 mins outside of Boston, and it's a small city. Sending prayers and healing energy your way.

Dan and Cathy, You all are in our prayers daily. I can't believe it has been 2 1/2 years since we had to leave our small group with Joe's job change! I wish we were all still in Brookfield so we could be there to help you all. So glad you had a great visit with David. Dan, you might think of asking the MD for a change in pain meds if Cathy is still having so much problems.Praying for renewed strength for both of you.

Hi Dan & Cathy,

What an eventful few days. Both difficult and fun.

I'm sure David enjoyed his time with you both (even though acquiring a speeding fine).

Am still laughing about the grocery store incident... You are absolutely correct, humour helps at all times.

Sincerely, hope the pain management is under control and keep this positive attitude going.

Bless you both,
Jayne & Jessica (Wales, UK).

Dan & Cathy,
Just want you to know you are in our thoughts and prayers. We know how difficult things can be. One suggestion for increased calories, Ensure powder which you can sprinkle on everything. Remember to take just one day at a time. Sally & Jack Harris from Elkhart

It is good that Dana Farber understood the urgency of the situation and rescheduled your appointment. That is encouraging...as are Cathy's treasured smiles.

We stand with you all.
