August 8, 2010

It has been 24 hours at home and things have been going well. The meal plan at our house isn’t as extensive as in the hospital because there are not as many choices. But, on the other hand, the cook is much better looking. Cathy ate well today. After having a 3 hour nap, we both feel that we have hit a positive turning point.

Today we had a visit from the person organizing the visiting nurse. There will be a nurse who comes to our house two times a week. The nurse will take blood pressure and things like that. Cathy says that cancer treatment has advanced a long way over the years and she hasn’t been trained on that.

Cathy has appreciated the cards and good wishes from everybody. Cathy said ‘You don’t really know how much friends and family mean until something like this happens’.
Thank you,

Dan and Cathy

Cathy, so glad you are home from the hospital, you never, ever get a rest there(I should know, I worked 11 years as a night nurse) Dan is probably a better cook than Joe, but no one is on the same caliper as Tim Huber!!!We have been praying for you, Dan, Cristine and David. Continue to gain strength everyday.

Hey Dad, if you need any quick and good recipes, I'm willing to send you some for the crock pot! (I'm a good cook.) I figure if you throw something together in the morning you can easily "cook it" for 8 hours and it will be ready for when you come home from work.

Glad you both got to take a nap today.

Love,
Me

Hello Dan & Cathy,

What a difficult time for you both. Cathy is correct, cancer treatment has improved and always progressing in the right direction.

Try to remain positive and supportive, and ask for help when needed.

This is such a good idea to keep those that care in the communication link and thank you for letting me know.

Now rest-up both and take things easy. I know you can get through this.
Love, Jayne (Wales - UK).

Hi Dan & Cathy,
My thoughts are with you both and I wish you all the luck in the world!! It's always the best people that are affected by this dreadful disease. My wife battled cancer for three years and I can only say without the support of close friends and family I would not have coped. I only wish there was something I could do for you both, my prayers and thoughts are with your family at this difficult time. Be positive, strong and keep smiling. Love Ian Gorringe and family x
